Seriously, thank you!
We would not be able to operate the Computers for Schools program without your support.

And all individual donors!

This month we provided 412 computers and laptops to...

  • 17 schools: This includes public schools such as Burnaby North Secondary and Foothills Elementary, as well as independent schools like Purpose Secondary. These schools use computers and laptops for various things. The activities range from simply increasing computer-to-student ratios, upgrading their current computers, or even helping specific students. This month, one of our laptops was used to help a student with diabetes who had a recently received a continuous glucose sensor implant. The sensor requires a laptop to always to monitor levels and this means this student doesn't need to get their finger pricked all the time. Mr. K from Robert Bateman Secondary is teaching students how to dissemble and rebuild computers. He has gone on record saying "I've made it very clear that it's best to make mistakes on this hardware rather than on their home PC's". We agree with Mr. K and if you would like to learn these skills, you should apply to work with us!
  • 13 nonprofits: Such as Mosaic BC, which programs include the distribution of computers to refugee families; Edo Friends of BC, which programs include teaching new immigrants basic computer training; and Canadian Mental Health Association, which promotes the mental health of all and supports the resilience and recovery of people experiencing mental illness.
  • 8 Students: These students now have access to a desktop computers in their homes that will allow them to do their coursework (and procrastinate 😉), communicate with friends and family, look for jobs, learn new skills, etc.
  • 1 Library: Libraries have always been an internet access point for the public and it's important that they have the computers they need to support their communities.

We hope to be able to provide computers and laptops to more organizations and people like these and we always need computers and laptop donations to achieve this! If you don't have anything to donate but still want to help, please, tell your friends, family, work, or school about us!

This month we hired 3 new technicians!

We are excited to have them join our team! We also had to say good bye to 5 technicians whose work terms have recently ended. We wish them the all best in their academics and budding careers!
That's all the updates we have for this month, we hope you enjoyed it and we will continue to do these kind of updates monthly from now!
