Monthly Update - February 2023
A new month is upon us, so you know what time it is!
In February we made some internal changes that will affect both the client and donor sides of our operations.
For clients: We had a distribution meeting to discuss implementing new refurbishing procedures that should hopefully allow for us to refurbish equipment and get it out the door quicker. Wait times have been longer than usual, and we are very appreciative of your patience as we work hard to bring them down.
We would also like to remind all of our pick-up clients that we do have a limited amount of space for storing your requests once they have been completed, and we do need you to make arrangements for pick-up as soon as possible once you have been notified that your request is ready. Requests will be held for two weeks once you have been contacted, and after that we will need to reallocate computers to other requests as we have a number of other clients waiting to receive them.
For donors: We have updated our tax receipt values to match current equipment specifications and fair market value. These changes will be reflected in all donations made from March onward.
We also hired two new interns this month. A warm welcome to Jarrad and Dmitrijs, we’re looking forward to having you on the team.
Finally, earlier this month we took a road trip to visit our friends over at Arc’Teryx! Arc’Teryx have been an amazing donor to us over the past two years, donating 514 laptops, 87 computers and 41 monitors since April 2021. The 176 laptops we have refurbished to date have helped save the use of 4950 Kg of chemicals, 1125 tonnes of water and 54,000 Kg of fossil fuels which typically go into the production of new technology. Arc’teryx was the winner of our “Sustainability in Action” award at our 2022 Donor Recognition event. We’re glad to have had the opportunity to finally drop it off!
In the coming weeks we will be preparing for a busy month, as we are nearing our fiscal year end. We’ll see you next month!
