Monthly Update - January 2024

January brought us 3 new CFS Interns! We’re happy to have Adam, Emyll, and Eric join the team, pictured below with Roshan and Nathan, who joined us at the end of 2023 and have been doing great work.

The annual Privacy and Security Summit is coming in March and we are excited to support up to 42 high school students participating in a “Capture the Flag” security hackathon in partnership with ISACA. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide youth with a live competition that helps develop skills in cybersecurity, privacy and digital skills management.

Our distribution is stable leading up to the end of the year, and in January we shipped out 444 computers to organizations, schools, and individuals. Interest in individual computer requests has picked up since the return of the Connecting Families initiative. Remember, organizations and schools can request technology on behalf of low-income families in their communities! We are able to produce computers quickly and more efficiently when orders are made in bulk rather than one at a time.

Thank you to all who donated in January, including City of Vancouver, TELUS, and new donor This Game Studio. We would also like to thank the Merrifield Family Foundation for their generous cash donation following the holiday season. Mr. Merrifield first learned of our organization in 2021 and we are greatly appreciative of his continued support.

Your Donations Matter.
