Monthly Update - October 2021

Another spooky Halloween season has come and gone, and we took advantage of the holiday to scare everyone with some e-waste facts. The negative impact your old computer can have on the environment is pretty terrifying if you don’t dispose of it properly. Always check to see if your computer can be reused before dropping it off at the recycling depot. You can find our Spooky Tech Facts on our Facebook or Twitter pages, if you’re still looking for a post-Halloween fright!

There was much more to our October than just spooks and terror – we hit another distribution milestone and have now topped 185,000 computers to schools, non-profits, Indigenous groups, libraries, and families in need. Woo-hoo!

Other highlights from October include partnering with First West Credit Union and their branches, Envision Financial, Valley First, and Island Savings to bring even more tech to non-profits in BC. A generous cash donation from First West Credit Union’s allowed us to purchase supplemental equipment for distribution to non-profits within their network. Thank you, First West Credit Union!

Distribution through the Connecting Families initiative has resumed and we have shipped 175 computers to date.

As always, we’d like to give shout-outs to our donors for the month of October. Thank you to Rise CPA, Kongsberg Mesotech, and Home Society for your donations. In addition, thank you to our partners TELUS, and the federal government for your donations and continuous support of the Computers for Schools Plus program.

Your donations matter.
