Monthly Update - October, 2022

October was a busy month with 285 computers/laptops being distributed. This is a lower than usual number as we have been short staffed.

Do you know any youth or students between the ages of 15-30 interested in working with computer hardware? We’re hiring! Check out our CFS Internship page for more information on how to apply.

Our board of directors had a strategic planning session focused on how we can achieve our vision of Technology for Everyone, and organizational values focused on Digital inclusion,

Environmental stewardship, Transparency, Adaptability / Flexibility, and Collaboration.

A new quarterly newsletter was launched in October. If you’re interested in receiving updates on available equipment to clients and our donation needs, subscribe here.

The Computer Using Educators of BC had their annual conference where we had a vendor booth and a presentation to teachers. The specific message is that teachers can request equipment on behalf of students to take home for their personal use. The family home is the last place the digital divide exists and ‘Technology for Everyone’ means we are committed to getting equipment where it is most needed.

Finally, October was also Cybersecurity Awareness Month. We posted an infographic on LinkedIn detailing our data security protocols. When you donate equipment, you can be assured knowing we have strong (and audited) processes in place to ensure your data is destroyed. For more information, please click this link.

We’re grateful to our clients and donors who continue to spread the word about the work we do here at BC Tech, so that we can continue to reach new clients. In October we had 6 new clients submit equipment requests, and 5 first time donors.

As always, thank you to our incredible donors for your donations, and please keep them coming! A special shoutout to TELUS, Relic Entertainment, Capilano University, and different bodies of the federal government for your continued support. Thank you for continuing to see a future for your retired technology!

Your Donations Matter.
