Monthly Update - November 2022

Welcome back to our Monthly Update!

This past month, as per usual, was incredibly busy. We hired 4 new interns Scott, Manpreet, John, and Paul, and had a number of volunteers start with us this month. Now that their orientation and onboarding process has been completed we are looking forward to move more requests for equipment out the door.

Over the past two years we’ve partnered with YWCA's TechLink program. We provide the equipment and they provide remote tech support to people needing help setting up email accounts and other literacy skills. During November 7 TechLink volunteers came in to learn more about the work we do and further define their hardware skills. The extra person-power in the workshop was appreciated and the volunteers will be able to speak with greater confidence about any hardware and installation concerns clients may have.

Thank you as always to our incredible donors for your continued support. We had 3 new corporate donors find us in November. How did you first hear about BC Tech for Learning? We’d love to know! Special shout out to Mathews, Dinsdale & Clark LLPZymeworks, TELUS, Sage Software, and a number of federal government departments. Keep them coming!

We worked on a fun Black Friday campaign with our friends at Computers for Schools Manitoba! Did you know 80,000 KG of e-waste was sent for recycling during Black Friday in 2021? This metric reinforces why it’s so important for everyone to choose reuse before recycling - and we are here to help with your old tech!  If any Manitobans have landed on this update, make sure you check them out for the delivery of CFS+ programs in your province.

We will be closing our workshop for our winter break from December 21 to January 3. Request and donation forms will remain open, but they will all be responded to upon our return. If your fiscal year end is December 31, now is a great time to donate your company’s old tech! Fill out a pick-up request form here.

Have a wonderful holiday season, and we’ll see you in the new year!

Your Donations Matter.
